The woman driving the bus is grieving a lost one. He made mistakes and paid dearly for them. She warned him and she begged him but he did not listen. She was angry when he died. Angry because he would not heed her advice. Angry because he could have avoided this. He could be here right now.
But sometime after he died, after her anger, she saw that it was love. Love made him do it. She saw the depth of his love, wider than she could have ever imagined, and she cursed herself for being angry in the first place. How on earth could she ever contend with love?
I said I miss you, I really miss you
So sorry now…
She is at the shore, dressed from head to toe in white. The water was their happy place. Oniru beach was the first time they made love; butt naked by the water without a care in the world.
She is in the water now, slowly wading towards the centre. After what seems like an eternity, she stops and looks to the heavens. I know, she says. I’m sorry, she says.

There is forgiveness of sin.
PLEASE READ: I am making the decision to move this series to my Substack because I don’t want to clutter my Medium. I am attached to how easy it is to navigate my work here, and want to keep it that way. I will keep posting here until Sunday, 12th January. Please follow my substack here. I apologise if this is an inconvenience. Forgive me ❤
Oluchukwu’s note: I intend to publish something every day this year. Obviously, this is a herculean task for me (you all know how much space there is between stuff I have written recently) but I will give it my very best shot. I hope you will show up with me ❤
